Originally developed by tree care pioneer Jerry Beranek, the Pelican Beranek Lanyard
consists of a hand-spliced, double braid polyester rope with a double-locking safety snap
hook at one end and a back spliced bitter end. The braided flip line is used with a prusik
runner to complete the Beranek system. The forged steel safety snap hook is rated at 23
kN (5,000 lbs) and enforced with a plastic round thimble.

This chainsaw lanyard is designed with a brass swivel snap that is swaged onto a 3.5’
length of 1/4” diameter kernmantle line and a 10” loop. The lanyard can be hitched to a
saw handle by placing the snap end through the loop to form a hitch at the other end to
attach to your saddle. This allows for complete control of the chainsaw even while falling
below the climber’s feet when accidentally dropped.
